Most early attempts used a direct prograde burn from Duna or a high-energy Kerbin departure, but the fuel cost is steep. A more efficient route stages the transfer through the inner system, using Duna or Eve as a gravity-assist stepping stone.
Once in the Jool system, the critical choice is how to approach Laythe and Eeloo. You must match Laythe's orbital plane and then perform a retrograde burn to lower your periapsis to Eeloo's altitude. Because Eeloo is small, your capture window is narrow — a few seconds of burn timing. Miss it and you're in a Laythe orbit with no easy second chance without expending more fuel.
The landing itself is the final gauntlet. With no atmosphere, you rely entirely on retrograde thrust.
