Kerbin is the home world of the Kerbals and the third planet orbiting the star Kerbol. A blue-green terrestrial globe ringed by white cloud bands and cradled in a breathable nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, it is the only known world in the system with liquid water oceans and a thriving (if small) civilization. Every rocket that has ever lifted off in the Kerbal Space Program begins its journey from Kerbin's surface, making it the emotional and logistical anchor of the entire game.

As the launch pad for interplanetary exploration, Kerbin is simultaneously the most familiar and most demanding body a pilot will encounter.
